Finally the results of our first consumer panel!
We asked five lovely people to sample some of our creations and this is what they thought. We asked them to score each product out of five for their appearance, flavour and texture:
Milk Chocolate Cinder Toffee
“I’ve tried three or four artisan Cinder Toffee/Honeycombs and love this one, though my one comment would be to give the honeycomb a stronger flavour as right now it is a delightful sweet counterpart to the chocolate but is slightly lost”.
“Good substantial pieces and not too sickly sweet. Can taste the quality of the Valrhona chocolate”.
“I like the bag and the big chunks, a great gift”.
Note: We now add a larger dollop of Brightwell Bee Honey to give our honeycomb a slightly stronger flavour!
Eton Mess Truffles
“Really delicious product, raspberry white chocolate ganache is so fresh tasting and despite being with white chocolate isn’t overly sweet whatsoever”.
“The raspberry on top was very rich. However, lovely sweet white chocolate!”
“I was surprised that I liked this so much as I am not a white chocolate fan. It was delicious!”
Note: Although it was noted that the raspberry on top was quite rich, the majority of our panel liked the combination of white chocolate with the tart raspberry taking away some of the sweetness, and so we will keep our Eton Mess as they are.
Exploding Milk Chocolate Easter Egg
“At first the popping candy effect seems too subtle, then just as you finish the mouthful it comes to life! Lovely fruity milk chocolate and very delicious, but the appearance is a little too 1980’s Thorntons”.
“Smelled amazing when I cracked the egg. Delicious milk chocolate and the popping candy gave a nice crunchy texture”.
“Conjures up childhood memories. A fun product to share. Memorable!”
Note: Next Easter we will be adding a little more popping candy so that our Exploding Eggs begin to explode with the first bite!
Dragon Fire Chilli Caraques
“Totally beautiful – the pattern is amazing and the smooth back is very pleasing. I’m not a massive fan of chilli chocolate but this was really nice with a good hit of chilli”.
“Good chocolate but way too much chilli heat and no chilli flavour”
“Beautiful looking chocolate – chilli is rather overpowering – maybe smaller size with a little less heat”.
Note: We are a bit torn as to what to do with our Chilli Caraques as although they have proved a little to hot for our panel, many of our customers like them as very spicy! Therefore we now add slightly less chilli to allow the flavour to come through without too much heat overpowering the taste, but if you would like them hotter then just write a note with your order and we will turn up the heat!
